Bonneville Environmental Foundation
The Bonneville Environmental Foundation is a self-funding, national, non-profit organization that operates like a business. BEF earns revenue by selling renewable energy certificates that they call ‘Green Tags’ to businesses, utilities and individuals.
BEF uses the net revenues from those sales to:
- Create new sources of renewable energy, ie, new wind farms and solar installations.
- Install solar panels on schools and work to integrate renewable energy education into classroom curriculum
- Restore watershed ecosystems with 10 year funding program
- Educate the public about alternative energy options
